Then I get back to work.

Spring Is Here!

March 27th, 2008

We’re stoked!

It is still snowing on the North Shore Mountains, there are contests going down all over the world, shred season is still in full effect. So how come every year at this time without fail our minds wander to thoughts of skating all summer long, beers and mini ramp sessions, road trips to concrete mecca, and non stop sessions at the park?

Maybe it is cause we are in love with skateboarding just like snowboarding, that the spring reminds us what started this love affair with winter in the first place for a lot of us, skating with our friends.

Enjoy.

Check this out, animals are the future.

February 15th, 2008

Animals are the latest influence on Snowboard Outerwear. With performance enhancing features like wings and tails it is easy to see why this technological advancement will push shredding to new levels. Watch for yourself and see what the future looks like…

Are we all alike?

February 14th, 2008

Whilst waiting in line at the lift last night on Mt.Seymour I was fortunate enough to have a conversation with a retired elderly dude on a pair of kick ass 70’s ski’s.

He asked me a couple of questions I never thought of before, so I thought I’d share ‘em with y’all on here.
“How come you guys all dress like skiers used to ? Wearing all those crazy colors and goofy outfits all the time?”

canadaskibig-1.jpg

It’s a good question huh? Why do some snowboarders look like kooks these days? Who is responsible for this current trend?

He also asked if we are all the same when we ride.
“Is there a set style to which you all conform, as in skiing in which we strive to perfect that turn, just like you’re supposed to?”

At this point we were both about to get on the lift, so I replied that we all do our own thing, that each of us is different and strive to keep it that way. Old dudes have a lot going on, next time your in line, check out what they’re thinking, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Used Snowboard Salesman…

February 13th, 2008

Boy oh Boy, When we saw this video did we ever feel good about making and selling snowboards for a living. This guy has got to be one of the scariest car salesmen we have ever seen. It might not have a lot to do with snowboarding, but it sure is funny…

Baker Banked Slalom

February 8th, 2008

Holy Smokes y’all!!! This is gonna be the best weekend ever, the Baker Banked Slalom is going down this weekend in Washington and we are making the short drive down south across the border to check out the madness. This will be the first time for some of us and the umpteenth time for others, but we’re all stoked just the same.

Gone are the days of trolling through shred mags longingly staring down upon pages filled with tales of powder filled tree runs and glorious moments upon the victors podium. The life one can lead out west is something to be constantly appreciative of. Mountains filled with snow all winter long, cities that never freeze filled with bicycle routes and organic food stores on every main street, and skateparks in such abundance they outnumber golf courses.

Many of us in this office are from all over the country, from the real east coast of the maritimes, the central hub of our country that is Ontario and Quebec, and of course the west as well. With this in mind, a sense of where were from that is, we here at Option wish everyone competing in the Baker Banked Slalom this weekend all the best, and hope to see more folks from all over the world each year.Shred ya later dogs…
